Algea to Jet Fuel

General Atomics from San Dieago Ca, has been awarded up to 43 million from DARPA to develop jet fuel for the Defense applications. Considering all the turmoil in the energy market this is a good idea that can roll into commercial applications should the cost of the fuel be viable.

If algae oil can be cost effective and reliable, production increased to acceptable levels, more uses will certainly be utilized.

This pilot program looks promising.

Oil Discoveries

The Saudi's recently reported a couple new oil fields recently. "Big deal" Another block of future oil for them to manipulate the market. OPEC = Organized extortion.

Exploration off the coast of California is underway from what I understand and if there is finally some kind of production in the offing, California really needs the revenue.

Some aviation enthusiasts with a real bad attitude on the astronomical cost of aviation fuel went to work and developed fuel the military, Virgin, and now Continental Airways is now testing. Seems it's made from algae. This is a new bio-fuel.
(More on this later)

An intrepid entrepreneur from Australia has developed a generator with a two cylinder Honda engine that runs on H2-O. This water powered motor that runs a generator is also under the radar for now. These kinds of developments can be very frustrating. No Youtube vids yet and no solid proof but, there is a lot of work being done on hydrogen power.

News is that Daniel Dingle, an inventor from Asia is reported to have recently sold his hydrogen powered car-to someone. There is a famous Youtube video of him driving it around with a news reporter. Maybe this "someone" can capitalize in this technology and stop all the cynicism. Most of the Hydroxy development today is bent towards gasoline enhancement of the engine. Not using water as the sole fuel.

We can't ignore these new developments any more. Scientists and academia refuse to accept the possibility of energy production beyond their hard set interpretations.
Laws that are not to be broken. The speed of light was thought to be 186,000 miles per hour. But, that law has been challenged and that law busted.

Fuel Prices Stabilizing?

It appears as the evidence grows and more light is being shed upon the last spike in oil prices, we can sum it up to Wall Street Greed and speculators. And yea, government is investigating it. "Big deal!"

They know there isn't a damned thing they can do about it even if there were some false speculation. Government let it happen. "Republicans as well as democrats are more interested in filling their coffers for re-election to maintain power than watching out for the folks".

Yep, own very own US Yankee "Government without a clue" provided the environment through efforts of the famed Enron Corp. Those who think government is not bought and paid for by the big companies or deep pockets might want to study a little more.

The laws regarding the oil market need to be overhauled back to pre-Enron legislation.

The way oil prices are controlled now leave absolutely no stability. How can major transportation, manufacturing, and regular folks plan a budget on such shifting sands?

Government will spell the end of freedom and our economy as we know it unless we fix it. We are at the mercy of Wall Street and their shareholders who spend money to influence government. Those of us out there working every day are at the bottom of the food chain and are getting stepped on by government and Wall Street.

One needs to look no further than the mess we have now.

As for alternative fuels, we need to find something renewable that will not raise food prices and cost less than a barrel of oil to produce. It has to be market viable. Anything that is not market viable is subsidized. And anything that is subsidized is paid for by the taxpayer. Not a market winner.

If you build a better mouse trap, you will succeed. If you can't, subsidize a senator or congressmen, and then you will.

Fuel Prices Dropping Like A Comet

"Who knew?" Well, there a number of folks that said and always maintained that the recent oil price spike was artificial. And it was.

"Speculators".

The new dirty word in our lexicon. And well earned. This last summer I actually had to pull money form savings (such as it was) to pay fuel and power increases. Anyone on a tight budget knows what I am talking about.

I saw E-85 today at $1.35. Diesel is down to $2.69 in some spots but not nearly where it needs to be. Much less than gasoline where I paid $1.59 a gallon today.

Where are all these dropping fuel prices taking Biodiesel? Out the window I fear.

We need to keep up the research and development of Biodiesel because sure as rain it will spike again.

60 minutes did a spread this evening about Saudi oil. The head of Aramco said their cost of production of a single barrel of oil is $2.00!

The reason they say it needs to be above $50.00 a barrel is so they can pay for their infrastructure. They have no other industry. So clearly, their product is not market driven. They do not know what the meaning of competition is.

We need to give it to them. Competition that is. "But then, here comes Uncle Sam and the States!" People aren't driving as much, so tax revenue is down and we need to consider raising gas taxes.

OK, so government officials tell us to conserve and we do. Buy more fuel efficient cars and car pool and we do. Demand drops and now they are crying because tax revenue is down and government needs more money for roads and bridges.

Does anyone feel like me? Does anyone want to plant a solid punch in the kisser of the next Senator or Congressman that proposes a tax hike on anything?

Are there Real Renewable Energy Solutions?

OK, more on making your own power. I watched a video the other day where a backyard inventor nearly blew up his garage building a hydrogen production device. "Did you know your car has an electrolizer?"

Yep, but why did this guy make hydrogen when you can build solar cells and wind generators? Well, the hydrogen was going to be used for cooking, heating, and electrical production from a single source. Some escaping gas caught a spark and "kablam!" Time to start over. But, there are easier ways. Check out this site.

Biodiesel Grease Car is looking at wind generation, solar cells, and deep cycle batteries at this new Green Energy site. Did you know you can build solar cells?

As for Biodiesel, it's in a bit of trouble. Fuel prices are dropping to below 2005 levels and is becoming price sensitive.

By the way, your cars battery makes hydrogen all the time your engine is running. The lead plates in your battery being energized by your cars alternator produces hydrogen. Those stickers warning about keeping your battery away from spark or open flame is there for a reason.

I know this, I blew one up before!

Fuel Price Nose Dive

Oil jumped back up to just above $54.00 a barrel today and "I can't believe I am really saying that". And as we savor fuel prices dropping from highs in the lower $140.00 per barrel range there are other fuel industries that are now taking a hit. As gasoline drifts below two bucks a gallon and diesel well below three bucks a gallon bio fuels are less of a press item.

BioFuels

Bio diesel and ethanol producers are seeing lackluster demand with many producers failing. Brazil who was the ethanol darling of the worlds ethanol producers are having a hard time right now making ethanol a profitable venture.

This is the perfect example as to why it is so difficult for inventors and alternative fuels industry to get production rolling. If some backyard inventor builds the 100 mpg carb and gets it into the market, the market can be manipulated to the point to where it is felt unnecessary. Same thing with bio fuels. Big producers can flood the market with cheap oil even for a short time to drive interest in new products out the window.

The Fox Guarding The Hen House

As the price of a barrel of oil dips into a downward trend, despite OPEC cutting production by 1.5 million barrels, this tells us one thing for sure, "Supply Wasn't The Dammed Problem!."

The speculators who leveraged their positions (borrowed money to buy oil futures) and drove prices skyward milking every 'teensy-weency" rumor or hurricane into a false story to conjure up reasons for higher prices, are now the dead and dying!

We should never again be believe these Wall Street fools who made so many of us poorer when we all had to fork over food, rent money, any and all savings in many cases just to get to work. Uncle Sam failed us again. Any more it's more like the fox guarding the hen house.

Again and again these "Washington nitwits" didn't listen to the general public. They didn't listen to or read the truth about what was really happening and I tend to think that high oil prices are exactly what many in Congress wanted. So there was a lack of resolve regarding these issues. All they wanted to do was anything but their job and blame everyone else. There is absolutely "no accountability" on Capital Hill and no excuse for not acting quickly and effectively to stop these astronomical prices.

If you haven't read Ed Wallace columns you should. You can find him at Inside Automotive dot com. Others during this last oil crisis went about shaking their heads in total amazed disgust at the lies driving up the price of a barrel of oil. They were asking questions like, "why are so many tankers anchored in the gulf"? If there were a real supply problem the reverse would be true.

Basic fundamentals were overlooked and information the government used was dead wrong. Even President bush said we were "addicted to oil". What rubbish. And, that statement is dead wrong too. This Nation was built on our current transportation structure of having more roads and freeways than trains like Europe. Countries in Europe have always had to deal with a lack of natural resources and thus they built more rail and other modes of transportation. Their streets are narrower, cars are smaller, and their drives generally shorter.

So, this business about an oil addiction falls on deaf ears as far as I am concerned.

So what now? I saw gas at $2.09 this day and there are all indications it will fall below two bucks soon. Do we stop trying to develop ways to improve fuel economy? The answer is a resounding "NO".

First, we need to get the speculators, the ones still breathing, out of the market Two: we need to continue conservation
Three: we need to find more sources of oil domestically
Four: we need to continue development of other sources of fuel and methods of getting better fuel economy

Just my thoughts.
